Rick Lytel

Research:  Nonlinear optics of quantum-confined systems.  Dr. Lytel devises computational models for optimizing the nonlinear optical properties of quasi-one dimensional systems.  This is accomplished by manipulating the topology and geometry of quantum graphs and studying their tensor and scaling properties as the nonlinearities approach the fundamental limits.   Dr. Lytel is also interested in the dynamics of computational systems, computer architecture and design, and machine-learning algorithms for fault discovery in computers and predictive dynamics in biological systems.

Education: Ph.D., Theoretical High Energy Physics, Stanford. B.A., University of Maryland Baltimore County
