Fig. 3: Schematic representation of the quantum mechanical density of a molecular para-hydrogen cluster with N=5 H2 molecules. Each hydrogen molecule is represented by a rigid rotor or dumbbell. Twenty-five possible realizations, which represent the quantum mechanical density, are shown. The coordinates of each realization are oriented so that it has maximum overlap with the classical geometry shown in the inset in red. Clearly, molecular para-hydrogen clusters are highly diffuse quantum objects for which a classical description is insufficient.
